Abstract The adoption of social work punishment in the criminal justice system for childrenin Indonesia is an urgent matter. This is inseparable from the determination tomake juvenile criminal law not only action oriented but also perpetrator oriented. The problem in this writing is how is the alternative perspective of giving socialwork punishment for children in terms of the purpose of punishment? and whatare the inhibiting factors in the provision of social work punishment for children? The research method uses a normative and empirical approach. Data collectionwas carried out using literature study techniques and field studies, then theresearch data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively.Based on the results of the study, an alternative perspective on the provision ofsocial labor punishment for children has the potential to be applied in Indonesia asone of the types of punishment that will come because it can be seen that it is inaccordance with the objectives of punishment that have been well formulated inthe RKHUP and the Law on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System. Furthermore, the inhibiting factors in the provision of social work punishment for childreninclude rules or regulations/substances in writing that do not yet exist and lack ofsocialization, as well as a legal culture or attitude of both the community and thepolice which is still low regarding legal issues. Keywords: Alternative Perspective, Criminal Social Work, Children,Purpose of Punishment.
