Abstract 
The adoption of social work punishment in the criminal justice system for children
in Indonesia is an urgent matter. This is inseparable from the determination to
make juvenile criminal law not only action oriented but also perpetrator oriented.
The problem in this writing is how is the alternative perspective of giving social
work punishment for children in terms of the purpose of punishment? and what
are the inhibiting factors in the provision of social work punishment for children?
The research method uses a normative and empirical approach. Data collection
was carried out using literature study techniques and field studies, then the
research data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively.
Based on the results of the study, an alternative perspective on the provision of
social labor punishment for children has the potential to be applied in Indonesia as
one of the types of punishment that will come because it can be seen that it is in
accordance with the objectives of punishment that have been well formulated in
the RKHUP and the Law on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System. Furthermore,
the inhibiting factors in the provision of social work punishment for children
include rules or regulations/substances in writing that do not yet exist and lack of
socialization, as well as a legal culture or attitude of both the community and the
police which is still low regarding legal issues.
